Appleton student presents at National Conference on Undergraduate Research

2016 Apr 21

Laurel McKenzie from Appleton was one of 28 Carthage College students to present at the 2016 National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR), which was held April 7-9 at the University of North Carolina at Asheville. NCUR is the country's largest conference dedicated to undergraduate research, scholarship, and creative works in all disciplines.

Laurel presented "A Culture of Consumption: How Quack Medicine Dominated Nineteenth-century America's New Media Advertising and Exploring Verbatim Theatre for Social Change, Historical Preservation, and Collaborative Art".

Carthage students at NCUR represented a wide variety of disciplines. At the conference, they gave either oral or poster presentations, received feedback on their work, learned more about available career options, and viewed other research in their fields.
