Cedar Grove student helps win math challenge

Michael Merritt from Cedar Grove helped the Carthage College Math Team win first place for their project summary in the Wisconsin Math Modeling Challenge.

The Wisconsin Math Modeling Challenge is an annual event held at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in which teams from schools across Wisconsin use mathematics to study real-world problems. The teams of three students work for a day around the clock to solve their problem, write a report, and create a talk presenting their work. The Carthage team earned the top score for their written summary and took home a cash prize.
