Olivia Wallace performed at Carnegie Hall

2015 Apr 20

Olivia Wallace was one of four Carthage College students to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York on March 29, 2015. They joined Professor Eduardo Garcia-Novelli, director of choral activities at Carthage.

MidAmerica Productions arranged the mass choir performance, which included choirs from Arizona, Arkansas, California, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, South Dakota, Texas and Wisconsin. The voices of four professional soloists also accompanied the choral works.

The concert featured the choral works of two legendary composers. Paul Nesheim, choral director at Augustana College in South Dakota, conducted Mozart's Missa brevis in C Major, K.220. and Prof. Garcia-Novelli conducted Schubert's Mass No. 2 in G Major, D. 167. The New England Symphonic Ensemble provided orchestral accompaniment on both pieces.

The performers rehearsed twice with the directors for a total of about nine hours.
