Trout Valley student participates in a J-Term study tour to Honduras

2017 Feb 3

Madeline Gronset of Trout Valley participated in a J-Term study tour to Honduras with Carthage College.

"Biodiversity, Brains and Behavior" offered adventurous students the opportunity to study the ecology of a Caribbean coral reef ecosystem, learn about the evolution of nervous systems and behavior, and study Honduran culture. Terrestrial adventure included an archaeological tour of the Mayan ruins at Copan. After becoming scuba certified, students learned about unique aspects of tropical coral reef ecosystems, and the taxonomy and neurobiology of marine life from invertebrates to humans.

J-Term is a special month-long period of study in which Carthage students explore subjects outside their majors or minors, discover new interests, and test their creativity through classes held both on campus and around the world. It's a month to experiment, create and dream. Carthage is ranked No. 4 in the nation among baccalaureate institutions for student participation in short-term study abroad.
