Six Carthage students presented their senior theses at national political honor society Pi Sigma Alpha's Undergraduate Student Research Conference on Feb. 17 in Washington.

Seven Carthage history students presented research at the Phi Alpha Theta 2018 regional conference in Lafayette, Indiana.

Carthage's Brad Kruse made the 2017-18 Academic All-District 6 Men's Basketball Team, announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Feb. 22. Brad is an accounting and finance major with a 3.86 GPA.

The 15 juniors in Carthage's first nursing cohort received their white lab coats in a Sept. 23 ceremony, a rite of passage signaling the transition to the clinical portion of their education.

Students work closely with a faculty mentor on a new or developing line of research.

These students presented their research based on the Ising Model, a mathematical model for the polarization ferromagnetic materials. They have been working together this summer to study and extend this model as part of the SURE program, and are advised by Professor Haley Yaple. The students gave two talks at MathFest, an annual conference for mathematics and math education that was held July 26-29 in Chicago.

This award is presented to recognize a student who has contributed to creating a campus culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion. The recipient demonstrates an ability to educate the campus about diversity and inclusion while building connections.

John Warnock '16, a geography and earth science major from Park Ridge, Illinois, and Professor Wenjie Sun will fly to Washington for the 20th annual Posters on the Hill event April 19-20. The Council on Undergraduate Research, which sponsors the national research showcase, selected only 60 projects after reviewing several hundred applications.

This program, funded by the U.S. Congress and German legislatures, provides one-year cultural exchange placements for 75 Americans in German host communities, and 75 Germans in US host communities.

Carthage psychology students, alongside professors Leslie Cameron and Cornelia Zerban, presented at the Midwest Institute for Students and Teachers of Psychology.

The Japanese Speech and Recitation Contest took place at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Friday, March 4. Speeches and performances were highly evaluated and greatly welcomed by the judges, professors, and the students.
