Carthage College

The team took first place in the FaceOff competition at the Pi Mu Epsilon Undergraduate Research Conference at St. Norbert College. Carthage's team outscored teams from nine other colleges in both preliminary rounds and the final question round. Carthage teams have won FaceOff competitions more than 10 times at mathematics meetings in Wisconsin over the past five years.

The Carthage chapter of Enactus headed to the organization's national exposition for the eighth straight year. The group earned their bid at the Chicago regional competition on March 21. This year's national exposition was held May 15-17 in St. Louis.

The Carthage Mock Trial just completed the best year its ever had by competing in the American Mock Trial Association National Championship Tournament for the first time.

Seventeen Model United Nations students, accompanied by Professor Jeffrey Roberg and Professor Penny Seymoure, spent most of their Spring Break in Bogota, Colombia participating in a Model United Nations (MONUA) conference at the Universidad de los Andes.

The Carthage Enactus entrepreneurial service chapter won a major victory at the Chicago Regional Competition in Lombard, Ill. The team has now earned an invitation to compete at the Enactus National Exposition in St. Louis.

Carthage pulled through after some close rounds and finished with a 5-2-1 record at the Joliet Regional Tournament in Joliet, Illinois earning them a trip to the national tournament in Geneva, Illinois, to be held in early March. The last time Carthage had a team qualify was in 2012.

Received an award for "Exceptional Representation" of the United States on the Historical Security Council (2003) at the American Model United Nations conference held in Chicago Nov. 21-24.

The Carthage Mock Trial team has earned a bid to the Bell Tower National Championship in Greenville, South Carolina. Only 48 of 663 teams nationwide reach the Bell Tower Championship.

Received an award for "Exceptional Representation" of the United States on the first committee (disarmament and international security) at the American Model United Nations conference.

The American Model United Nations conference was held in Chicago Nov. 21-24. Carthage students competed in a field of 1,518 students from 88 universities and colleges across the United States who represented 133 countries.

Won Outstanding Witness award at the Lewis University Fantastic Flyer Mock Trial Invitational in Romeoville, Illinois.

Hayley Smith received an Outstanding Attorney award at the 8th Annual Illini Invitational in Urbana-Champaign, Illinois.

The Carthage Mock Trial teams competed at the University of Minnesota Nordic Mock Trial Invitational in Minneapolis from Oct. 9-11. Despite being the first invitational of the season, and the first for many members, both teams had impressive trials while acting as the prosecution and defense.

First baseman/pitcher Jared Helmich (Jr., Lake Villa, Ill./Fox Lake-Grant Community, .354, 11 doubles, 6 home runs, 33 RBI, 4-1 pitching record, 2.21 earned run average) was named the baseball player of the year by the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.

The Carthage College baseball team won the 2015 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin baseball tournament.

Carthage Mock Trial had four award winners at their second tournament of the season at Lewis University.

A group for Carthage students and faculty to get together, enjoy and talk about the history, culture and benefits surrounding drinking tea.

United Women of Color provides leadership opportunities, hosts activities to enrich its members socially and academically, strengthens the image of minority women in the Carthage community, and works to build respect and tolerance between all students. Membership is open to all students.

Carthage Woods and Waters is an outdoor club. We're dedicated to introducing students to all the outdoor sports and activities available to us in the Kenosha area. When we aren't fishing, mountain biking or trap shooting, you can find us helping pheasants forever with a controlled burn or taking a hunters safety course.

Carthage World Relief is a student organization which seeks to raise awareness for global health initiatives. CWR also supports international efforts to increase healthcare for those in need, due to poverty or disaster. CWR particularly works with the Nica-Agua Foundation to raise awareness for the need of pure water on Ometepe, Nicaragua as well as raise funds to install water purification systems.

Social Work Advocacy Group offers students of all majors an opportunity to share their academic experiences with fellow students, and use their acquired knowledge, values and skills to reach out to the Carthage community and beyond. Activities include fund-raising, socializing, working with other service organizations or individuals, and sponsoring seminars to keep students aware of current issues.

RLC includes representatives from each residence hall who work with the Director of Residence Life to improve the lives of students on campus and get people more involved. This governing board oversees the activities of each Hall Council. RLC hosts many events including Alcohol Awareness Week, Lil' Sibs Weekend, and state and regional conferences that enable members to become more involved on campus.

The Philosophy Club at Carthage is a unique student group on campus that fosters active discussion and questioning beyond the classroom. Members aim to encourage dynamic conversation and acute discernment through a love of wisdom.

The Zeta Psi Beta Chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) at Carthage operates on a campus, state, regional, and local level. Founded on four pillars of Leadership, Scholastics, Recognition, and Service, the organization aims to serve the campus and community while recognizing all members of the campus that contribute to the College to make the student's experience here what it is.

Maximum Capacity is a student-run male a capella group that performs both on and off campus. The men of Maximum Capacity entertain their audiences with music ranging from Billy Joel, to Taio Cruz, and everything in between.

As a community, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, we see Jesus as the source of truth and life for all people. Our vision is to see students and faculty transformed, campuses renewed, and world change developed.

The International Friendship Society is a group of students on campus that come together to bring awareness to the Carthage community about other cultures, including food, music, dance and more. IFS also organizes the Annual International Dinner, which raises money for an elected non-profit organization.

Students in Honors Council serve the local community through service projects and social activities and through input into the curriculum and organization of the Honors Program. Honors Council also serves as a support group for students striving to achieve academic honors while at Carthage. The group spends time volunteering at local events and fundraising through their annual Carnation Sales on Valentine's Day as well as attending professional theater productions at least once a semester.
