Carthage College held the fourth annual Celebration of Scholars on Friday, May 2, 2014. Celebration of Scholars showcases the research, scholarly, and creative achievements of students and faculty from all academic divisions at Carthage.

Carthage music major David Godbold '16 was accepted into the Composition Symposium at the Oregon Bach Festival. This honor is awarded to outstanding students through competitive application process. David will be one of the few undergraduates attending the symposium.

ONE at Carthage has once again won a national competition. This is the second national win for the organization, a grassroots advocacy and campaigning organization that works to fight extreme poverty and preventable disease around the world.

Social Work Students Present at Wisconsin Council on Social Work Education Conference
The students presented their work with Days for Girls International. Days for Girls is a non-profit organization that empowers girls around the world by direct distribution of sustainable feminine hygiene kits that can last up to three years.

Congratulations to the Semler Fitness Certification Grant Award recipients
The grant will pay for the cost of taking a nationally certified fitness certification. Each student will then intern in the Semler Fitness center during the 2014-2015 school year with ACE-CPT certified graduate student Tyler Prochnow. Their services as group or individual fitness trainers will be offered free of charge to Carthage faculty, staff and students.

Carthage Math FaceOff! Team takes first place at regional competition
The Carthage FaceOff! team won first place in the FaceOff! competition at the Mathematical Association of America's Wisconsin Section meeting at the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater on April 4. The team has compiled 10 wins and two second place finishes in their last 12 competitions over a span of six years.

Enactus, open to all majors, works throughout the year on projects in six categories: Market Economics, Success Skills, Entrepreneurship, Financial Literacy, Business Ethics, Environmental Sustainability, and Sustainability. This year, the group took third place in the national competition in Cincinnati.

Carthage World Relief is a student organization which seeks to raise awareness for global health initiatives. CWR also supports international efforts to increase healthcare for those in need, due to poverty or disaster. CWR particularly works with the Nica-Agua Foundation to raise awareness for the need of pure water on Ometepe, Nicaragua as well as raise funds to install water purification systems.

Kappa Pi Members - Fall 2013
Kappa Pi is the international art honorary fraternity. Zeta Alpha Psi is the Carthage chapter. The fraternity strives to spread art throughout campus and the community. To be a member, you must be a Studio Art or Art History major or minor, have completed at least 12 credits in the Art Department, maintain a 3.0 GPA in all art classes, and a have a 2.0 GPA overall.

Members of Honors Council - Fall 2013
Students in Honors Council serve the local community through service projects and social activities and through input into the curriculum and organization of the Honors Program. Honors Council also serves as a support group for students striving to achieve academic honors while at Carthage. The group spends time volunteering at local events and fundraising through their annual Carnation Sales on Valentine's Day as well as attending professional theater productions at least once a semester.
