Mock Trial team places at Minnesota Nordic Mock Trial Invitational

The Carthage Mock Trial teams competed at the University of Minnesota Nordic Mock Trial Invitational in Minneapolis from Oct. 9-11. Despite being the first invitational of the season, and the first for many members, both teams had impressive trials while acting as the prosecution and defense.

Participated in a Summer J-Term study tour to Nicaragua

The Biology and Geography of Nicaragua study tour provided a unique opportunity for students to experience clinical work or work on water projects. Both aspects provided students first-hand knowledge of the rural volcanic island of Ometepe, Nicaragua. Students also learned the fascinating history, culture, and environment of this country, and saw how all of this has affected the land and people.

Participated in a Summer J-Term study tour to California

Carthage students went to California in early June for the annual J-Term study tour Sports Journalism: Baseball. They learned about the journalism and marketing that surround Major League Baseball. The student journalists attended and reported on five baseball games covering the Oakland Athletics, San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers, and San Diego Padres.

Every summer, Carthage students help to uncover the ancient world by participating in the excavation of a Roman temple complex in Omrit, Israel. Students are instrumental in unearthing this amazing archaeological site, revealing structures and artifacts from the first century BCE, and adding to our understanding of the history and development of this important region of the world.

Japan possesses a long history, a complex geography and has its distinctive cultural heritages. Today's Japan has the third largest economy and the tenth largest population in the world. Capital One First-Team Academic All-American

Carthage College catcher Nick Schmidlkofer (Sr., Wind Lake, Wis./Muskego, .333, 9 doubles, 2 triples, 33 RBI, 4 stolen bases) was named 2015 Capital One/CoSIDA first-team Academic All-America(R). Schmidlkofer, who graduated in May with a double major in biology and neuroscience and a cumulative grade-point average of 3.95, is Carthage's 12th CoSIDA Academic All-American(R), its seventh first-team member and the first Red Men baseball player to ever receive the award.
