The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin announced Tuesday that Carthage College's David Goodalis has been named the CCIW Men's Field Athlete of the Week following his performance at the Chicagoland Championships.

The Goldwater Scholarship is a federally endowed award honoring former senator Barry Goldwater. It is designed to support and encourage students to pursue careers in the natural sciences, mathematics, and engineering fields. It provides up to $7,500 in funding per year over one or two years. Sophomores and juniors with an interest in entering research-based graduate school are eligible to apply.

"Spanish Language Immersion in Guatemala" took students to northern Guatemala where they studied and experienced rural life in and around an agricultural community with a population of only 500 people.

"Gender, Race, and Class: Social Identities in Modern London" showed students how multiple social identities (e.g., gender, race, class) create unique experiences and perspectives for individuals.

On "Religion and Society In Modern India" students encountered three contemporary Indian religious communities: Hindus, Muslims, and Sikhs.

"Luther and the Reformation" had three emphases: the 16th century birth of the Lutheran Reformation, German Lutherans and the Nazi Holocaust, and the east-west divide symbolized by the Berlin Wall.

"Life and Politics: Surviving Socialism and the US Embargo in Cuba" was an integrative learning experience where students were exposed to several disciplinary perspectives from both U.S. and Cuban scholars and experienced the Cuban situation for themselves by exploring eight provinces over 15 nights on the island.

On "Representations of Germany's Past" students studied the ways that stories about Germany's past are told by the objects, places, and people they encountered during 18 days in the German cities of Berlin, Dresden, and Munich.

"Paris: A Capital Experience" lead students to Paris for two weeks, where they studied Parisian life while touring the city.

Students on this tour got to learn and practice the art of sports journalism in Europe as they got to report on the world's most popular game.

Students on this tour visited battlefields, monuments, museums, and cemeteries of World War II in Western Europe.

"Interplay of Economics, Politics, and Culture in Hong Kong" focused on international finance, economics, and business law in Hong Kong.

Students on the "Economics and Business in Southern Africa" study tour had the opportunity to meet with famous economists, businessmen, writers, and artists in the countries of South Africa, Botswana, and Namibia.

"The Biology and Geography of Nicaragua" provided a unique opportunity for students to experience clinical work or work on water projects. Both aspects provided students first-hand knowledge of the rural volcanic island of Ometepe, Nicaragua.

"Tropical Ecology of Costa Rica" took students to different sites in Costa Rica to hike, explore, and research the countrys incredibly rich natural resources.

"Biodiversity, Brains and Behavior" gave students the opportunity to study the ecology of tropical America while learning about the evolution of nervous systems and behavior.

The Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) has selected Carthage's Marc Hansen as MCVL Defensive Player of the Week. Hansen, a junior libero for Carthage, averaged 3.29 digs per set in two games and captured a team-high 11 digs in the Red Men's 3-1 win over Quincy. Hansen also collected 12 digs in Carthage's loss at Lindenwood. Hansen is a native of Oak Lawn, Ill. and is majoring in Mathematics.

The goal of the Intensive is to celebrate and recognize outstanding musical theatre students. Selected performers are offered the chance to work hands-on with Musical Theatre professionals and participate in a cabaret performance to be held at the end of the week of the festival.

The College Conference Of Illinois and Wisconsin announced Tuesday morning that Carthage College's Esmeralda Perez has been named the CCIW Women's Swimmer of the Week.

The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin announced that Carthage College's Aaron San Juan has been named the CCIW Diver of the Week following his performance this past weekend. He scored a personal lifetime best of 390.92, which established a new school record for a 1-meter, 11 dive meet.

A total of 972 students have been named to the Carthage College Dean's List for the Fall 2015 semester.
