CCIW Player of the Week - Lacrosse
The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin named Carthage College junior mid-fielder Maddie Griffin its Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. The Parker, Colo. native paced the Lady Reds with 14 points in a week that included three-straight road games with Greensboro College, Ferrum College, and Randolph College. Griffin's 12 goals, 13 ground balls, 10 draw controls, and eight caused turnovers on the week also led all Lady Red players.

CCIW Player of the Week - Softball
The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin announced Tuesday that Carthage College's Darian Pelsor and Katie Herron have swept the CCIW's Softball Player of the Week honors. Pelsor batted .524 (11-for-21) with nine runs, three doubles, one home run, nine RBI and an .810 slugging percentage as the Lady Reds started the season with a 4-2 record. Herron was 2-1 with a 0.40 ERA in 17.1 innings pitched for the Lady Reds last week. She gave up one earned run and struck out 29 batters.

The Carthage Enactus entrepreneurial service chapter won a major victory at the Chicago Regional Competition in Lombard, Ill. The team has now earned an invitation to compete at the Enactus National Exposition in St. Louis.

CCIW Player of the Week - Lacrosse
The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin named Dylan Harris and Connor Nelson its Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week. Dylan Harris, who took home offensive player of the week honors, left a mark in the Red Men's lone match on the week at Milwaukee School of Engineering on March 19. He tallied five goals and chipped in an assist in Carthage's 14-2 victory over the Raiders. Connor Nelson claimed the CCIW Defensive Player of the Week honor. He tallied four clears and three ground balls.

D3hoops.com All-Region Second Team
D3hoops.com announced Monday that Carthage College women's basketball guard Morgan Harris has been recognized as a 2016 All-Central Region second team selection. For Morgan, a unanimous All-CCIW first team selection, she becomes the seventh player in program history to receive the all-region honors. This season, Morgan was among a record 776 nominees nationwide for the all-region honors.

CCIW Player of the Week - Lacrosse
The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin named Carthage College goalkeeper Taylor Sopron Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. The LaGrange, Ill. native was the anchor behind the Lady Red's 12-6 victory over Adrian College on March 12. Sopron tallied three saves and faced 10 shots in the Lady Red's win.

For the second time this season, the Carthage College men's volleyball team (18-1, 8-0 Midwest Collegiate Volleyball Conference) has swept MCVL Player of the Week Honors. For the eighth week of the season, J.P. Tulacka has been named MCVL Defensive Player of the Week and Zach Lillig has been named MCVL Offensive Player of the Week.

Pawel Jaworski was named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Men's Tennis Player of the Week. Jaworski helped carry the load for the Carthage College men's tennis team in their 5-4 victory over UW-Eau Claire on March 4 at the Racine Tennis Club. The Deefield, Ill. native registered a 6-0, 7-6 (11-9) victory over Will Weyenberg in singles play.

The Dream Undergraduate Diversity Conference, in its second year, yielded many interesting topics including stoicism, white privilege, understanding non-binary gender, mental illness, and racism. The Arts and Creativity Leadership Team (ACLT) is made up of exceptional arts students with an interest in community engagement, artistic excellence, and arts advocacy. The leaders were nominated by peers and faculty members, and serve as advisors for the annual Arts and Creativity Festival. Members of the ACLT also take on project management for events such as the Family Arts Carnival and the Arts Everywhere Initiative.

Mock Trial wins bid to national tournament
Carthage pulled through after some close rounds and finished with a 5-2-1 record at the Joliet Regional Tournament in Joliet, Illinois earning them a trip to the national tournament in Geneva, Illinois, to be held in early March. The last time Carthage had a team qualify was in 2012.

The Carthage Women's Ensemble were selected to perform in the Music in Worship event at the American Choral Directors Association North Central Division Conference. They were selected to perform through blind reviews of recordings of the choir from the previous three years.

The Goldwater Scholarship is a federally endowed award honoring former senator Barry Goldwater. It is designed to support and encourage students to pursue careers in the natural sciences, mathematics, and engineering fields. It provides up to $7,500 in funding per year over one or two years. Sophomores and juniors with an interest in entering research-based graduate school are eligible to apply.
