The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin announced on May 15 that Carthage College's Herman Abban, Pawel Jaworski and Chris Conley have been named to the 2017 CCIW All-Conference Men's Tennis Team.

CCIW Player and Newcomer of the Year - Tennis
Herman Abban received the individual honors of CCIW Player of the Year as well as CCIW Newcomer of the Year. Abban becomes the seventh CCIW Men's Tennis Player of the Year in program history and the first since Jeff Lotz in 2012. The Newcomer of the Year award is the first in program history for the Red Men.

2017 Smeds Intern
The Smeds Executive Internship Program is a summer internship program that allows Carthage College students to apply their coursework in real-world settings, and enables companies and organizations to employ students for real-work projects while evaluating them as potential employees. Smeds Executive Interns are typically paid by the companies/organizations and earn a stipend from funds earmarked by the program's benefactor, Edward Smeds '57, who chaired the Carthage Board of Trustees from 1997 to 2011.

Performed in annual Honors Recital
Each year, the Carthage Music Department holds its most prestigious music event, the Honors Recital, as a celebration of the excellent work done by its students. The students selected are honored as the best performers of the year. The recital's participants are chosen through a highly selective audition process. In order to be selected for the event, musicians must show mastery in their given instrument and choose a music that is self-contained, in that it focuses on a particular composer or theme.

CCIW Pitcher of the Year - Softball
Katie Herron was named 2017 CCIW Pitcher of the Year. The Brooklyn Park, Minn. native is the first Lady Reds player to earn CCIW Pitcher of the Year since Krystina Leazer claimed the distinction in 2013. Herron concluded her senior campaign with a 2.45 ERA and 125 strikeouts on 125 2/3 innings pitched this season. She also registered an 11-6 win-loss record.

Global Heritage courses are concerned with ideas, works, and practices of non-Western traditions. The Global Heritage Competition is held annually to honor exceptional work in projects with a focus on non-Western traditions and peoples.

The Red Men have now captured at least a share of the CCIW Regular Season Championship for the third consecutive season.

CCIW Co-Defensive Player of the Year - Men's Lacrosse
This marks the third-consecutive season a Red Men claimed CCIW Defensive Player of the Year. Andy Meyers joins Remy Giacotto (2015) and teammate Jordyn Williams (2016) as Red Men who earned the distinction. Meyers was the anchor of a Red Men defense that ranks sixth in the country with a 6.06 scoring defense. His main contributions for the Red Men have been in the face-off circle. Meyers' .765 (189-246) face-off winning percentage ranks second among all NCAA Division III men's lacrosse players, and first on the single-season Carthage list.

CCIW Newcomer of the Year - Lacrosse
Nicole Bowman, a freshman midfielder, becomes the second Newcomer of the Year in Carthage women's lacrosse program history. This season, Bowman finished second on the Lady Reds with 36 goals, third in points with 39, and tied for the team lead, along with Mussell and Griffin, with two game-winning goals.

The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin announced on May 1 that six Lady Reds have been named to the 2017 CCIW All-Conference Women's Lacrosse Team. Making the first team were Nicole Bowman, Maddie Griffin and Emily Lima, while Maggie Allen, Rachel Mussell and Kendell Santin were named to the second team.

The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin announced on May 1 that Carthage College's Rachel Mussell and Maddie Griffin swept the final weekly honors of the 2017 regular season. For Griffin, the honors are her fifth overall on the year and her third defensive, while Mussell wins the offensive award for the second time.

Carthage College men's lacrosse junior attack Luke Seydel was named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Offensive Player of the Week on May 1. Seydel is the second Red Men to land CCIW Player of the Week after Andy Szun earned the distinction on March 27 and February 20.
