CCIW Player of the Week - Softball
Carthage College softball players Katie Herron and Hailey Rothstein were named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Softball Players of the Week. Herron earned CCIW Pitcher of the Week while Rothstein pulled down CCIW Hitter of the Week. This marks the second time Herron registered the weekly honor in her career as she captured CCIW Pitcher of the Week on March 22, 2016. Rothstein's honor was the first of her career.

MCVL Player of the Week - Volleyball
The MCVL announced that Carthage College senior libero, Cody Bolan, has been named the MCVL's Defensive Player of the Week following Carthage's win at Lakeland on Saturday. In the five set thriller over Lakeland University on Saturday, Bolan recorded a new Carthage College men's volleyball program record with 34 digs to give him 6.80 digs per set in the Red Men's lone match of the week.

MadHacks Programming Competition - Second Place
Carthage students participated in their first hackathon Feb. 18-19 - and came home with a second place win! Congratulations to computer science majors Sydni Baluch '19, Austin Haskell '18, and Ryan Mahoney '18. Their team took second place in the University of Wisconsin-Madison's MadHacks programming competition. This national competition lasts about 30 hours, and involves more than 350 students in teams of up to four students each. The theme of this year's MadHacks was Games.

National Association of Teachers of Singing competition - Second Place
A group of Carthage voice students competed at the Chicago Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition. Sophomore Laura Smith, from the studio of Prof. Elena Batman, was awarded the second prize in the sophomore women category. Laura faced tough competition from the most important music schools in the Chicago area.

CCIW Player of the Week - Lacrosse
The CCIW announced on that Rachel Mussell has been named the CCIW Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week following her performance in Tennessee on the Lady Reds' opening weekend. Mussell totaled eight goals and one assist for the 1-1 Lady Reds last week. She finished with two goals in the season opener at Sewanee on Saturday, followed by six goals and one assist in a 19-16 win against Birmingham Southern on Sunday.

MCVL Player of the Week - Volleyball
The Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League announced that Carthage outside hitter Marc Hansen has been named the MCVL Offensive Player of the Week following his two performances last weekend. Hansen led Carthage to a 2-0 week with home wins over Greenville College and Fontbonne University to move the #6 Red Men to 7-1 overall and 6-0 in the MCVL.

CCIW Player of the Week - Tennis
The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin announced that Carthage College's Herman Abban has been named the CCIW Men's Tennis Player of the Week. The honor is the first of his career and the first by a Carthage player this season. Abban, a junior from Accra, Ghana, went 4-0 between No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles over the weekend, which moved his record to 12-0 this spring.

2016-17 COSIDA Academic All-District Women's Basketball Team
Carthage College women's basketball junior guard Morgan Harris was named to the 2016-17 College of Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District Team on Thursday morning. Harris was named to the District 6 team, which comprises of schools in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Michigan. The Arlington Heights, Ill. native holds a 3.94 cumulative grade point average as a biology major.

CCIW Athlete of the Week - Track and Field
Carthage College women's track & field junior Mia Bennett was named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this season. The Lindenhurst, Ill. native paced the Lady Reds at the Illinois Wesleyan Division III Keck Select on February 4 with a first-place toss of 18.16m ("59-7.00") in the weight throw. This ranks her third among NCAA Division III women's weight throwers.

CCIW Athlete of the Week - Swimming and Diving
For the second time this season Carthage College men's diver Connor Pierson has been named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin following his performance this past weekend at the Wisconsin Private College Championships. Pierson, a freshman from Kenosha, Wisconsin, won the one-meter event Saturday. His score of 460.40 was his first regional qualifying score and also established a new school record.

CCIW Player of the Week - Basketball
Rachel Szydlowski's 26.0 points per game, 9.5 rebounds, five blocks and .576 (19-33) field goal percentage led Carthage to a 2-0 record the past week. This includes a 106-95 win over North Central College on January 25, and a 73-62 victory over Augustana on January 28. Brad Perry helped lead the Red Men to two CCIW wins last week including one against nationally-ranked Augustana. He scored 17 points in a 74-70 overtime win against the 16th-ranked Vikings.

Carthage College women's track & field junior Morgan Young was named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Indoor Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday afternoon. The Mahomet, Ill. native claimed the Cardinal Opener shot put title with a toss of "44-07.50," which ranked her fifth in NCAA Division III.

CCIW Athlete of the Week - Swimming and Diving
For the second time this season the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin has named Aaron San Juan as the conference's Diver of the Week. San Juan, a sophomore from Novi, Michigan, finished first on the one-meter board during a dual meet with Wheaton on Saturday. He achieved a score of 256.80 for an 11-dive event as the Red Men won the meet by a score of 202-92.
