CCIW Player of the Week - Softball

Carthage College softball sophomore pitcher Amy Goldsmith was named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Softball Pitcher of the Week. The Carol Stream, Ill. native accumulated 13 1/3 innings pitched throughout four appearances for the Lady Reds last week. She surrendered no runs, struck out 13 batters, scattered three hits and held opponents to a .070 batting average throughout the week.

The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin announced on Monday that Carthage College's Maddie Griffin has been named the CCIW Offensive Player of the Week for the second-consecutive week following her performance on Sunday.

CCIW Fall Academic All-Conference Recipient

Each member school in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin selects student-athletes from each of the three sport seasons (fall, winter, spring) to be honored as Academic All-Conference members. To be eligible, an individual must have an overall grade point average of 3.30 or above and must have lettered in their respective sport for that season

"Here I Stand" Creativity Competition Award Winner

As part of the 2017 Arts and Creativity Festival, Carthage hosted the "Here I Stand" Creativity Competition. In partnership with the Luther 500 Celebration, the competition encouraged submissions that celebrated the theme of "Here I Stand." Participants entered in the categories of visual arts, performing and interdisciplinary arts, and written word.

D3Hoops.com Central Region Rookie Of The Year

For just the second time in program history, a Carthage College men's basketball player has been named the D3hoops.com All-Region Rookie of the Year, as freshman center Brad Perry received the Central Region's honor on Monday. Perry joins Carthage assistant coach Steve Djurickovic as the only winners of the award with Djurickovic's honor coming back in 2008 when the Red Men were in the Midwest Region.

MCVL Player of the Week - Volleyball

The Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League announced on Tuesday that for the first time this season the Carthage College Red Men have swept the weekly awards as Griffin Shields earned the Offensive Player of the Week and Cody Bolan received the Defensive Player of the Week.

CCIW Champion - Men's Basketball

"An exciting season," said head coach Bosko Djurickovic. "Great credit to a resilient group of guys. As I said earlier, I have certainly coached more talented teams, but I don't know if I have ever had more fun with a team. When you win as many games as we have there is something that is right. These guys from one-to-twelve really did a good job all year long of picking each other up, making plays as they needed to be made."

CCIW Player of the Week - Tennis

The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin announced on Wednesday that Carthage College's Pawel Jaworski has been named the CCIW's Men's Tennis Player of the Week following the Red Men's weekend in Iowa. Jaworski becomes the second Red Men to receive the honor in 2017, joining Herman Abban who received the honor on February 22nd.

CCIW Player of the Week - Softball

Carthage College softball players Katie Herron and Hailey Rothstein were named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Softball Players of the Week. Herron earned CCIW Pitcher of the Week while Rothstein pulled down CCIW Hitter of the Week. This marks the second time Herron registered the weekly honor in her career as she captured CCIW Pitcher of the Week on March 22, 2016. Rothstein's honor was the first of her career.

MCVL Player of the Week - Volleyball

The MCVL announced that Carthage College senior libero, Cody Bolan, has been named the MCVL's Defensive Player of the Week following Carthage's win at Lakeland on Saturday. In the five set thriller over Lakeland University on Saturday, Bolan recorded a new Carthage College men's volleyball program record with 34 digs to give him 6.80 digs per set in the Red Men's lone match of the week.

MadHacks Programming Competition - Second Place

Carthage students participated in their first hackathon Feb. 18-19 - and came home with a second place win! Congratulations to computer science majors Sydni Baluch '19, Austin Haskell '18, and Ryan Mahoney '18. Their team took second place in the University of Wisconsin-Madison's MadHacks programming competition. This national competition lasts about 30 hours, and involves more than 350 students in teams of up to four students each. The theme of this year's MadHacks was Games.

A team of highly skilled and dedicated Carthage College students achieved outstanding results in the 2017 CFA Research Challenge which took place on Feb. 16 in Madison.

National Association of Teachers of Singing competition - Second Place

A group of Carthage voice students competed at the Chicago Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition. Sophomore Laura Smith, from the studio of Prof. Elena Batman, was awarded the second prize in the sophomore women category. Laura faced tough competition from the most important music schools in the Chicago area.

CCIW Player of the Week - Lacrosse

The CCIW announced on that Rachel Mussell has been named the CCIW Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week following her performance in Tennessee on the Lady Reds' opening weekend. Mussell totaled eight goals and one assist for the 1-1 Lady Reds last week. She finished with two goals in the season opener at Sewanee on Saturday, followed by six goals and one assist in a 19-16 win against Birmingham Southern on Sunday.

MCVL Player of the Week - Volleyball

The Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League announced that Carthage outside hitter Marc Hansen has been named the MCVL Offensive Player of the Week following his two performances last weekend. Hansen led Carthage to a 2-0 week with home wins over Greenville College and Fontbonne University to move the #6 Red Men to 7-1 overall and 6-0 in the MCVL.

CCIW Player of the Week - Tennis

The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin announced that Carthage College's Herman Abban has been named the CCIW Men's Tennis Player of the Week. The honor is the first of his career and the first by a Carthage player this season. Abban, a junior from Accra, Ghana, went 4-0 between No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles over the weekend, which moved his record to 12-0 this spring.

2016-17 COSIDA Academic All-District Women's Basketball Team

Carthage College women's basketball junior guard Morgan Harris was named to the 2016-17 College of Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District Team on Thursday morning. Harris was named to the District 6 team, which comprises of schools in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Michigan. The Arlington Heights, Ill. native holds a 3.94 cumulative grade point average as a biology major.
