Represented Carthage at American Model United Nations Conference
Carthage Model UN students competed in a field of approximately 1,500 students from 92 universities and colleges across the United States and the world. Carthage students tackled issues of international importance such as: combating violence and violent extremism, bridging digital divides, enhancing regional economic cooperation and integration in Asia and the Pacific, antimicrobial resistance, and the 1994 Rwandan genocide.

Participated in the 2017 Carthage Christmas Festival
Yearly, Carthage College invites the community to celebrate the joy of the holiday season at the annual Carthage Christmas Festival, three performances of readings and music in the A. F. Siebert Chapel. These annual concerts are the College's Christmas gift to the community. Tickets to the Christmas Festival have been free since the festival began more than 20 years ago.

CCIW Diver of the Week
The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin announced on Tuesday, Dec. 5 that Trisha Garcia was named the CCIW Diver of the Week. Garcia, a freshman from Burr Ridge, Illinois, achieved a pair of best scores for 11 dives during the A3 Carthage Classic over the weekend. She finished with a score of 339.90 on the one-meter board and 287.10 on the three-meter board.

CCIW Swimmer of the Week
The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin announced on Tuesday, Dec. 5 that Becca Rutkowski has been named the CCIW Women's Swimmer of the Week. Rutkowski won a pair of events while helping the Lady Reds win the A3 Carthage Classic over the weekend. She finished first in the 50-yard freestyle (24.18) and the 100-yard freestyle (52.52) as both times were lifetime bests.

CCIW Player of the Week - Women's Basketball
Carthage College women's basketball sophomore guard Madie Kaelber was named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Kaelber's first CCIW Player of the Week honor comes on the heels of her career-high, 33-point performance in the Lady Red's 96-90 2OT loss at University of Chicago on November 26. Twenty-seven of those points occurred in the second half, and two overtime periods.

Carthage College women's soccer junior forward Maggie Washelesky was named to the 2017 All-CCIW Second Team. Washelesky's honor comes after being named to the 2015 and 2016 All-CCIW First Teams, and the 2016 NSCA All-Central Region Second Team.

The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin has announced that three Carthage College women's tennis players have been named to the 2017 All-CCIW Women's Tennis Second Team. Named to the second team this season was Angelica Emmanouil, Casey Frommer and Max Mella. This is the second-straight year that the trio has been named all-conference.

All CCIW - Men's Soccer
The Red Men finished 2017 with a 13-7-2 record overall and 5-2-1 in the CCIW before falling in the conference tournament championship match. Despite finishing tied for third in the CCIW, the four Red Men are the second most first team selections in 2017, behind only North Park University.

Following a 25-8 overall record in 2017, a 6-2 record in the CCIW and the CCIW Tournament title, the five Lady Reds that received all-conference recognition is the most by any team in the league this year.

All CCIW - Football
The Carthage College football team found themselves well represented as 12 Red Men were named to the 2017 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin All-Football Team. Following a 7-3 overall record in 2017 and a fourth place finish in the league with a 5-3 record, the 12 Red Men are the third most from a team, with only North Central and Illinois Wesleyan topping Carthage's dozen with 14 and 13 respectively.

Selected to present at National Association for Campus Activities Convention
Hailey Morgan, the Carthage Activities Board's Director of Event Management, has been selected to present at the National Association for Campus Activities Convention in Boston. The convention will be held in February 2018. This is an honor rarely bestowed upon undergraduate students. Her educational session, "From CAMP to Campus", is focused on aiding students and staff in relationship building and hospitality for performers and agencies.

Earned honors at National Association of Teachers of Singing competition
Eight Carthage music students participated in the Wisconsin regional voice competition for the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS). The competition was held Nov. 2-3 at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

CCIW Tournament Champion - Women's Volleyball
The Carthage College Lady Reds overcame a 2-0 deficit to the number-eight team in the nation to win the 2017 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Women's Volleyball Tournament Championship, defeating the top seeded Millikin University Big Blue in five sets, 3-2. The tenth straight win by Carthage moves the Lady Reds to 25-8 on the season, while the Big Blue fall to 28-7. With the championship, the Lady Reds earn the conference's automatic bid to the 2017 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship.

CCIW Swimmer of the Week
The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin announced on Tuesday, that Carthage College's Sam Gabriel has been named the CCIW Men's Swimmer of the Week. Gabriel, a junior from Arlington Heights, Illinois, helped lead the Red Men to a first place finish at the Calvin Quad meet over the weekend. He won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 51.80, which ranks 11th in the country and is also an unrested best.

CCIW Swimmer of the Week
The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin announced on Tuesday, that Carthage College's Kate Hugo has been named the CCIW Women's Swimmer of the Week. Hugo, a senior from Neenah, Wisconsin, won three individual events during the Calvin Quadrangular over the weekend. She won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.57, which was less than a second from her tapered best time at the CCIW Championship last season. She also won the 100-yard backstroke (59.46), 200-yard backstroke (2:08.93) and was part of the winning 200-medley relay (1:51.47) and 400-medley relay (4:04.85).
